The painting memories of time was inspired by our perception of time and the way we remember. Memories are more like snapshots or little snippets of events in the past that are interconnected in our brain. I tried to visualise these snippets by using my spatula to create the little blocks of apint. The opening in the middle is always different, no memory is like any other. Together they make up my personality and define who I am now with all these interconnected memories and experiences.
The painting is also a tribute to my father who passed away some time ago after a battle with dementia. He lost lots of his memories but mine of him and all his stories that he told me are still there and have become a part of me. So he can live on in my “Memories of time”.
