The Medicine man, is a series of painting, from no. 1 to no. 4. It is part of an ongoing series and is painted as an homage to my mother who died 10 years ago. Through the process of creating painting, I am observing that painting is a healing medium and at times is therapeutic to the art viewer as well as to the artist who created it.
At the artistic level, my painting deals with figuration, in particular of the interior, and the living room. I can think of the masters of the small format from the Northern Netherlandish painters, to post impressionists, and to the London School New Figurative painters. I get therefore inspiration and lesson from these group of painters as I sometimes try to appropriate in certain dimension model art works from the painting genres I mentioned above. Medicine man No. 3 painting uses mirroring effects, as the floor reflects the subjects that are on view.
