CHAOTISM appreciates and acknowledges the beauty of duality which reflects in all that surrounds us. The infinite Cycles, opposing flow of order & chaos, battling forces establishing perfect balance. Constant action - reaction between these two forces are the key to creation. CHAOTISM strives to provoke and direct, whilst acknowledging and respecting this omnipresent force. These forces can not rule purely by them selves. They are in need of each others influence to stay in motion. As a creator practising CHAOTISM one must respect these cycles. Appreciate the process for what is, evolving, infinite, endless... Do not get attached to what is ahead or in the past. Focus on where you are and observe where creation takes you. Stay open to new options, new directions every step of the way. Avoid attachment to a premeditated outcome.
Lt0418 is the only series of work which was a collaboration between Belgium and Cambodia, this series was commenced as a group chaotism demonstration at an event in Ghent. After this initial session the surface was divided in three pieces to allow transportation to the studio in Otres, where it underwent multiple collaborative sessions at art laboratory.
This triptych was the first of this series to be finalized, the title refers to the scale in relation to the size of the initial surface, its 11.11% x3 = 33.33% or1/3.
After a first art laboratory session I knew this piece would be a triptych however the canvas remained as one piece until I commenced the final reconstruction. The last chaos act before this reconstruction was by a participant at art laboratory wearing a blindfold and using a white roller to pass over the full surface in one curved motion. My first reconstructive choice was to define black area’s to reinforce the white lines as well as the abstract depiction in the grey area’s. Within these grey spaces Ive allowed my automatic reconstruction technique to reign, creating detailed abstract configurations.
Most of my work is inspired by the holographic universe, all that which is constantly morphing, filling up all the empty space that surrounds us. Ive seen these structures, infinite tunnels which can depict everything and nothing whilst I was in heavy meditation. This given is so fascinating, how all subject matter grows and morphs eternally entangled, how it responds to our pattern of thought, how our perception gives it shape and meaning. I attempt to create a translation of this holographic universe, since it is in constant motion, its almost impossible to create a still image of it. I merely depict it in a symbolic way. The red arrow connecting these three panels signifies a marker in these holographic vortexes, it emphasizes the border between two different perceptions of reality, where similar yet different rules apply, the drips going upward indicate an opposing force of gravity.
