I feel my pieces express the contrasts in life. I wanted to paint how I feel the world is nowadays. My first piece, Love and Wrath, attempts to explore the cycle of life within the world. I wanted my viewers, to interpret the strands of DNA emerging from the earth (bottom of artwork) on the left creating the entity (humans) and giving life. While turning their attention to the right, the entity is crumbling down to earth. This cycle of creation to destruction represents human life. While the earth is helping to create and nourish humans and other life in the world, it also tells of its decision to also take this life away slowly. The viewer also can see the neck and body of the entity, is cloud-like, this cloud-like appearance is perceived as a nuclear bomb that has blasted which represents the fuel humans use, wasting the earth for their own personal gain through wars and climate change. Therefore, the crumbling entity showcases the earth’s desire to humble humans into remembering that they are only human, and will become dust in the earth’s soil replenishing other humans in the future. After the viewers see these subjects, when they look at the background, they can see the universe surrounding us. We can stare at the sky for hours, gazing at all the endless stars in the unending black abyss. However, we know that the beautiful galaxy has a mixture of vibrant purple, pink and blue hues. Though in our lifetime, many will never be able to see it. I hope this shows viewers that we are just a tiny dot, like the stars we see in the star; but we can also be great by doing much good around us, just at the stars if we saw them up close. Therefore, I hope viewers see that all this negativity in the world should be stopped, because we only have one life and one earth, and we need to take care of our earth, others and us.
