In this painting inspired by a travel to Indonesia, I wanted to illustrate two things that have left a strong impression on me: rice fields and Bali dance - Legong. I have seen many traditional dances and they are all interesting, unique, beautiful but Legong was breathtaking. There are so many details and precision in the dance, even the movement of just a little finger is extremely precise. The dancers are moving their head left to right, their eyebrows, eyeballs and then all of it together, showing how they can dance and express only with their face. They excel at expressing a personality through a dance, imitating animals, kings, warriors. As well, I fell in love with the landscapes of Bali where we can see from the distance rice fields that pile up one under another, creating a fantastic scenery even more amazing in real life than in pictures. What I found interesting are the colors at the surface of the water surrounding the rice crops . In my mind it directly connected to the dress of the Legong dancers, that I discovered afterwards. That is why behind this Legong dancer I decided to put a scenery of rice fields looked from above. I colored them with all the variety of colors and patterns that I saw in the rice fields during my trip.
