La scena rappresentata nel quadro è quella di un leg wrestling, una sorta di braccio di ferro eseguito con le gambe. Questa scelta non è casuale: rispetto alla forma tradizionale del braccio di ferro, il leg wrestling sembra offrire una parità maggiore tra i due sessi. Inizialmente ispirato da una fotografia, il mio intento era quello di dissolvere completamente le differenze anatomiche tra i sessi, raffigurando un'eterna rivalità in una lotta dove i confini tra i corpi diventano indistinti e intrecciati.
Elaborando la scena, ho scelto di definire alcune parti dei corpi, lasciandone altre più sfumate e meno delineate. Questa scelta stilistica mi affascina perché permette allo spettatore di completare l'immagine secondo la propria sensibilità, creando così una potenziale identità personale. L'occultamento di alcune parti del corpo non è legato al pudore, ma piuttosto a un senso di libertà. Una libertà che permette a ciascuno di essere semplicemente ciò che è, oppure di riconoscersi in un'alterità che aiuta a definirsi e identificarsi.
Il risultato finale è una massa di materia pittorica in cui lo sguardo dell'osservatore cerca di identificare il sesso tra forme e colori. Il senso di confusione è intenzionale: una figura segue i canoni anatomici tradizionali, mentre l'altra, composta da molteplici arti, sfugge alle aspettative, creando un maggiore disorientamento. Questa confusione enfatizza il messaggio che non esiste una definizione rigida di identità e genere.

In a context where the concept of distinction between male and female sex is ubiquitous in everyday life, often stifling other forms of identification, I wanted to offer a more fluid and inclusive vision.

This choice is not accidental: compared to the traditional form of arm wrestling, leg wrestling seems to offer greater parity between the sexes.
