David, when
he was little, has been a herd boy too, and under his care, sheep were grazing
peacefully. Because I have been thrilled by this topic, I have chosen to paint a
newly born lamb. When going for a hike outdoors in Zürich, I encountered a group
of sheep, among those I have seen this beautiful lamb resting peacefully in the
meadows.
Concerning
techniques, it was important to take a proper underpainting and defining its
set of colours. During the second step, I took hard pastels by creating a
sketch of 10 sheep. During the main part, I used soft pastels to create the
different variation of beige, yellow and earth colours. I applied multiple
layers in order to create brilliance of colours.
