"Kut" is named after the Iraqi city that was at the center of a famous battle during WW1 (in 1916), and that recently was bombed again during the current conflict in Iraq, exactly 100 years later, in 2016. For this work I was inspired by an aerial view of the city of 1916, rendered entirely in water-soluble graphite on paper. "Kut" has been exhibited in the solo show "Theatrum Mundi" at the Galleria del Carbone in Ferrara (Italy), March 2019 (catalogue with text by Claudio Cerritelli).
