The canvas concerns the score
of the plant of Kaki which is located in Nagasaki and survived the atomic
bombing.
I recorded, with the
collaboration of Hiroko Kato, the electromagnetic vibrations produced by leaves
and roots, which in turn are translated into notes by means of a converter, but
what interests me is that it is the man who performs the piece, so I asked the
composer Claudio Binetti to convert the recording into score, which in turn was
interpreted with the vibraphone by the musician Olmo Chittò.
In practice, the composer is
the Kaki (plant) and the performer is the man.
I connected the QRCode to the canvas (see bottom right of the picture)
which allows you to listen to the song, lasting 2:55 min.
(I recommend the use of earphones or headphones).
At the same time the musical
score of the mother Kaki is reinterpreted through an image of the painter
Charlotte Salomon.
My work is about a connection
between two senses (sight and hearing), we can call it phonosphere or as
Hitchcock would say: "The MacGuffin is the narrative device that provides
the dynamic push to the plot".
