The beach
This work of art was created from two photos printed on Kozo paper and cut up. The pictures were taken on the beach and showed us as a happy family on this year's summer holiday. Just a short but intense moment of happiness.
I cut us out of the picture as a family to hang on the photo wall. I was about to throw the rest away when I noticed the intense colours and the interplay of sky, sea and sand, it captivated me and the moment came back to life. I wanted to capture this moment of happiness and began to glue the partially folded pieces of paper onto a canvas.
I let my thoughts wander...
Will our children or grandchildren come here again in the future and find nature like this?
Will the king of the Alps, the Tagliamento, one of the last wild rivers in Europe, still exist?
Shortly after our holiday, a heat wave developed in northern Italy. A devastating fire broke out at the mouth of the Tagliamento and destroyed a large part of the nature reserve near the lighthouse. (Riserva naturale Foce del Tagliamento) . Several hectares of pine forest were destroyed. It burned for days.
Nature will slowly recover, but it can happen again quickly.
Two thirds of the painting were made with white pieces of paper, all handmade. They symbolise the future, which is still unwritten.
But also for the hope , in us humans to face climate change together.
Nature has always been changing, but for us humans it is now becoming noticeable.
Will we face our problems globally and act together.
Hardly how bathers perceive the Tagliamento only as a river and not as one of its last species!

The different types of paper reflect light differently during the day and at night.
The image changes from light to intense darker colours during the day. You will always find something new.
