'In the studio' is a reflection on time of isolation during pandemic in 2020, time when every artist is looking for an inspiration in their own home.
'In the studio' is a self portrait from 'Turquoise' series. The artist focus on her everyday life, observes her routine, emotions and relationships with other people. Pilarczyk mainly focuses her work on a human figure but also as an expressionist she finds a pleasure in describing a moment by playing with light, texture, strong brushstrokes, colours and pattern witch she finds among her closest surroundings.
'My big pleasure is to observe the light and play with it, find a good composition and translate the reality into painted emotions. I am definitely not driven by realistic representation, I am looking for a particular atmosphere in my painting by using bold palette of colours, strong and expressive brush strokes and sharp contrast between dark and light shapes. I don't plan my work, I rather experiment with different ideas by repainting some of the elements of the scene.'
