The simplest description of the paintings in this series would be: "Unstretched diamond-shaped canvases with a full spectrum of colors impoding/exploding from center". They are an outgrowth of the previous "Poles" series. In that series, what had begun as single panel pieces, evolved to have two panels and, ultimately three. The two-panel pieces consist of a long, horizontal panel and a square panel, and the last several had a third, diamond-shaped panel. These "IMPS" are a refining of the basic principles I used in those diamond-shaped panels. They are also an exploration of mixing color optically, that is, without physically admixing the component colors. There are twenty-four variations of the color relationships used and I intend to paint them all. I have several to go. Stay tuned.
