3/4 FLAGS ; PORTRAITS OF UNKNOWNS.
The scene here is charged with violence, with the manifestation of physical weapons and dark nuclear portents; the painting shows not the violence itself but its prelude.
PORTRAITS OF UNKNOWNS.
Portraits of Unknowns is a series of works that aims to reinterpret memory.
A photo, a sound, a scent or a color can lead us to recall a memory we thought was lost. The images that offer themselves to our mind are quite different from the stimulus we received; a dimension of memory opens up before us that brings us back to relive a past experience. But what happens to all these memories? Over time they become first stories, then artifacts, and then ether.
The series stages unknowns, as there are so many unknowns whose deeds we remember but whose names we no longer recall.
The images generate in the viewer the possibility of rereading them according to his or her own memory and thus rediscovering them again and again, since the identity of the unknown is not built on its connotations, but by a series of signs and symbols that determine its features.
