This is a painting of a woman walking with her dog, peacefully under the red moon of autumn. The story underneath this painting is about the memory with my late dog, Cookie. Cookie, died in 2019. He came to my life when I was 16 and had been my best friend since.
This painting is a reminiscence of the memories of walking with Cookie by my side, and also a promise to him that we will meet again. In Korea, when dogs die, we say they crossed a rainbow bridge and we believe that they will wait at the end of the bridge until they meets their beloved family/owners again.
The path on the painting is like the rainbow bridge. The dog is walking ahead of the woman somewhat hesitantly. But the woman is making sure and relieving the dog that she will be there in time and that they will meet again. And that this is not a good-bye.
She is saying "I will see you again."
I have planted the yellow flowers that our dog used to enjoy sniffing along the path. Each path has 14 flowers each, which implies 14 wonderful years that I had with Cookie by my side.
