"I'll never let you go"is a deeply personal reflection on love, loss, and the enduring presence of grief. It emerged from my experience of losing my husband to cancer and the profound sense of longing that has since shaped my life.
The central figure's embrace of the horse symbolizes the lingering connection I feel with my husband — a connection that remains strong despite his absence. The embrace is both tender and desperate, representing the emotional tension between holding on to cherished memories and confronting the painful reality of loss.
The horse, a symbol of strength and freedom, contrasts with the fragile human form, expressing the push and pull between the desire to keep moving forward and the weight of grief that pulls me back. The vibrant, sometimes chaotic colours rendered in Oil paint and Oil bars with some collaged paper, capture the complexity of mourning: the clash of intense emotions, from sorrow and longing to fleeting moments of solace.
This piece is a visual manifestation of my ongoing journey through grief. It speaks to the longing for what once was, the persistence of love in the face of absence, and the struggle to find a place of peace amidst the ever-present ache of loss
