"I AM MOTHER" broach the issues of the environmental problems of our time.
The background of the artwork is decorated by various international newspapers that deal with the problems of our generation: climate change, the extinction of biodiversity or the way of life in today's industrial society.
In the foreground is the "Mother of Earth", which stands like a kind of deity above the events. Blossoms grow from her left hand, representing the fertility of the earth. On her right is a bird, which symbolizes the animal kingdom. Another bird is just flying away from her. The flying bird symbolizes the change that takes place through the extermination of biodiversity, through human hands. Roots grow from the torso of the figure, which are fused with the dress. This shows the inseparable connection between man and nature. In the dress itself there are roots and the sea. Our earth consists of 71% water and around 80% of our food is obtained from the sea. The sea is therefore indispensable for our steadily growing world population.
The "Mother of Earth" is painted almost transparently. You can see many of the items underneath showing through the roots and body. This makes it clear again that people forget more and more about how important the environment itself is for our survival. We are part of nature and we can't survive without her. More and more fragments of the "mother" will be wiped out until we will eventually wipe ourselves out.
