Horizontal/Vertical is a photo-realistic painting on vinyl. It incorporates a friend "Tina" and myself facedown, and it explores the idea of verticality with that of being horizontal through the literal act of draping the banner on the ground. It incorporates the horizontal lines of Tina's dress in contrast to the vertical lines of my seersucker suit. To add, it is a literal contrast in a contemporary socio/political context. This painting is part of a separate series, where I'm including myself within the work, but is tied to a larger series which reflects my relocation to the Deep South in 2018.
