A portrait of the new-born, bi cultural artist wrapped in a kimono, made shortly after the death of her mother. The mother is portrayed as a kind of Hodigitria - an image of Mary holding her fully clothed child as a kind of companion on the path of life. Intrigued by the figure of Mary, the artist reverts to representations of the Madonna as the female face of God and the archetypal concept of the Mother Goddess. She investigates what role this Mary still plays in our lives today.
