This double-sided framed sculpture is an investigation into the aesthetic structure of a helium atom. The atom is represented by drill holes piercing the surface (applied when curled up). The canvas is then re-stretched to the 2D form to reveal the reciprocal, opposing marks that echo atomic particle values.
One side shows the ‘human thoughts’ and our desire to understand nature, the other allows for contemplation.
The work is mounted so that both sides may be viewed at any one time. A metaphor for the limitations of humans.
