Independence is won on the battle fields, paying the price in
red poppies.
It is then nurtured on the grain grown on those fields, finds its
horizon under the divine light of the books,
bearers of humanity’s ancient
wisdom,
and sets a course towards perpetual reform guided by the maps.
The independence thus won and doted on,
is
defended by the might of the arms, rule of law,
justice and carried on to the
posterity by the youth illuminated through modern education and edification.
This chair belongs to a man who contemplated and acted on these ideals;
