Harvesting cherries

My goal is to share the fullness of life. Every being has in it the longing for fulfillment. It’s in each of our hearts. I couldn’t think of a better reason to paint. And so, I’m a figurative painter. Not in the sense of photographic detail. But capturing essential characteristics. Therefore I created the portrait of a girl when she was harvesting cherries catching the short point in time when she was full of joy.

Concering pastel technique, I first created a wet  background using  a mix of yellow oker pigments, and then started to do the sketching by using hard pastel. To achieve brilliance of colours I had to apply multiple layers of soft pastel.
