The concept for this piece is rather simple.
The woman pictured within the canvas is in a state of what appears to be relaxation. Typically arms crossed over each other can be observed as a form of defense, dominance or reaction to an awkward situation.
Another way i have heard this body language defined as is "a hug to oneself"
Rather than relaxation this woman is crossing her arms in an attempt to soothe her self. Although you can not see her face it can be presumed by the smiley face that is posted over her that she is in no case happy at all.
The women in chairs series is meant to not only represent the vulnerability of existing within one self (nude/alone/at home when most comfortable) but also tackle the emotions that go along with doing so. Each color and figure represents a specific emotional transcendence of being.
