'Garden of Pomegranates' is a mysterious and versatile painting. The translucent enamel covering the copper base has a special effect. When brightly lit, the coppers' reflection behaves as a light-box, highlighting the painting from below. When that happens, it becomes extremely vivid, flickering and bursting with colour. In low light, the dark glossy surface and intriguing cellular texture take precedence, and the image as if it is new, will open up an entirely different world. It has a strong feminine feel to it, with both its dark and bright manifestations. Pomegranates symbolise the mystical experience in the kabbalah, with the typical reference being to entering the "garden of pomegranates".
