Microdisegni are miniature figures drawn on paper with mixed media, enlarged, printed on canvas and then framed. The size of the original format is placed on the outside bottom right of the canvas. The designs were drawn using a small sliver of wood, with the last drop of coffee or soil, used as ink. They were created during a quiet moment in a peaceful place, in Bale on Croatia’s Istria Peninsula, in 2009. The artist felt moved to paint in a more essential manner: a manner both tiny and figurative. To better see the images despite their small size, he enlarged each subject on canvas. In doing so, he takes advantage of the graininess of the background to make the details of the painting technique stand out.
