This art piece is watercolor, gouache, and ink on art board. The artist took inspiration from traditional Gagiid masks from the Haida Clan in British Columbia. The Gagiid mask depicts a spirit, a person who nearly died by drowning and now wanders the forests. The artist chose to compose the image out of marine life native to the British Columbian coastline such as the Great Pacific Octopus and the Blue Lingcod.
