This piece is inspired by one of Lady Gaga's looks in the music video for her song G.U.Y., a part of her 2013 album, Artpop. Not only did drawing her from this angle pose a challenge due to the perspective, but it was also interesting because of the subversive nature of the song G.U.Y., an acronym for Girl Under You. While the song is sensual in nature, and is at its core, a power bottom anthem, the acronym also refers to sexism and being in charge in a relationship, referencing how men often have more control in a relationship.? After watching the music video, I decided to choose this image of her as it was still captivating despite being shown briefly. And frankly, she was serving good face. In the original shot, she was wearing a long white wig that was signature for most of her Artpop album, which is why her hair was left uncolored in the work. While this isn't a replica of her face, it still embodies Gaga in her glory.?
