Overexposures
I have long wanted to look
"under the skin" in a portrait. I began to paint the series
"Overexposures" after the death of my beloved Father, whom I
accompanied to the end. When my Father was dying, the Star of Bethlehem was
shining in the sky, which shines once every 600 years. It was then that I saw
my Father in my mind's eye, illuminated by that particular ray of light.
In "Overexposures" I would
like to show how this mystical Light penetrates human body. In the area where
the light falls there is a living tissue - i.e. skin. As you move away from the
source of illumination, blood vessels, muscle tissue and then internal organs
gradually become visible. In the shadow, only the skeletal system is visible.
