“ O fragility! When I befriended you
I knew I was your only protector” - Anisha
The Dervish, takes center stage in accepting and protecting his own brokenness, which is represented here by his hands extending out to hold the two solid black bars on either sides within which he contains his fragility - showcased through the shattered patterns and the delicate drooping flowers.
Are there broken parts of you that you have scattered in the hands of others and perhaps set yourself up for hurtful disappointments?
“Fragility of the Heart” The fragility pattern is created by an invisible grid, by dividing the 4 sided rectangle into 12 parts. Further a calligraphic style stroke is added to create my depiction of a shattered pattern. This is repeated in an alternate grid format to create the background stage for the main theme of this story which is fragility. The dervish who is the main protagonist enacting the portrayal is set in a centre frame and is accentuated by the density of the fragility pattern around it.
