Loosely informed by flight charts, this work embodies human desire
for home, whether physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, or
intellectual. During these historic times of change in how we live
and relate to those around us, including our immediate families,
there is a disconcerting struggle for sanctuary based upon verifiable
information, validation from peer groups, and our own skills (or lack
thereof) in critical thinking and discernment. As a pilot flies, he
or she must base their flight path on verifiable information such as
other air traffic, wind patterns, weather and the abilities of the
aircraft and their own experience. At the present, humanity is
grasping for certainties with regard to pandemic response,
racial/gender equity, employment/financial security, all at a time
when these certainties are rapidly shifting or even completely gone.
We are seeking a safe way home, back to a time (less than a year ago)
when we usually knew what to expect.
