Farewell
The series "Farewell" deals with the theme of death and burial.
The main motif - in a larger format (about 130 x 112 cm) is a kind of landscape with architectural elements: a fresh grave, which, however, opens up to the viewer only after a long look.
The four other pictures (each about 50 x 60 cm) are funeral scenes.
Shameful figures, such as gravediggers, who leave the coffin in the grave, mourners who stand at the grave and throw the earth into the grave, a funeral society that says goodbye to the last words, or a funeral procession that processes into a chapel.
All pictures consist of the carrier material nettle and the applied tulle in different shades.
Contrasts, brightness, shading, color mixing and spatiality of the motifs are created in the pictures exclusively by the amount of tulle layers.
During the work process, the pins as a temporary fastener itself became part of the job. The solvability of the form accurately described the fragility of the moment and the provisional state of life.
The needles wake up to that. They spark fears of injuring themselves and stand for a fragile transitional state represented by life, which is nothing more than a series of fleeting moments.
The fragile material and the complexity of the tulle layers also create an intangible spatiality. The motifs evade knowledge. They oscillate between photographic reality and dreamlike hunch.
