‘Expectation’ is a ‘figurative landscape’ capturing the helplessness of a modernist vision of architecture which now lies in ruin. It exists as a dislocated geography, a decontextualised territory of a changing aesthetic of disappearance. Much like Cezanne’s ‘The Bathers’, the painting attempts to echo a bodily tension of the conglomeration of nudes whilst hinting at an ulterior aura of timelessness in the perception of architecture ruin.
