Emerald Wall

"Emerald Wall (Santa Maria della PIetà)" is a painting depicting a "portrait of place".  This mixed media painting made with liquid porcelain and acrylic on linen was based on site visits and research into Santa Maria della Pietà in Rome: a former psychiatric hospital.  This series began in 2017, during a residency at the American Academy in Rome. The theme of this painting is aligned with Lundy's artistic research; commemorating marginalized people and places who have otherwise been lost in time. Lundy's paintings investigate the places of memory, and also serve as a metaphor for memories of the past, as well as respective personal histories lost in time.
