What I add to each sign, how I build it, from what elements, is a fully conscious choice. What it consists of and how it looks are meant to tell a story. The signs focus the internal tensions that emerge from them into further stories. Starting with connecting points or lines, I establish the general outline of the sign. Then, adding more elements, I check how they sound with each other and whether they convey the description originally seen. I then create black and white signs on a neutral ground. This way I penetrate the sign before adding color to it, which is supposed to increase or decrease its expressiveness. This is how I design a symbol, with a main, basic content that I can develop in infinite ways. By analyzing the tensions within, I can control the quality of the sign. By juxtaposing them with each other, I create a kind of writing with which I tell the story of events or places.
