This painting is part of my project "The way we were". It's painted in a nostalgic narrative style, and the storytelling is about simple memories of my childhood, me having to dust every weekend when I was staying over for the holidays at my grandmother's home. The grandmother is very "present" in the painting. While seated, she is overlooking her environment and in control. The painting is focused on her, while I am blurred. This focus and the black & white format is creating a reference to photography. Finally, what do we still own from our past, what steers our memory, besides some old objects and photographs?
