Dyptich of 2 linocuts on white Japanese Simili paper, printed in 4 copies. The printed part measures approximately 30 cm by 20 cm.
1 - Pierre: Once upon a time, in the icy expanses of the Arctic, a daring diver defied the frozen depths of the ocean. This linocut was created from a photograph by Benoît Poyelle taken during the Arctic expedition of Ghislain Bardout and Emmanuelle Périé ('We Walked Under the Pole' by Editions Chêne). This piece represents cold, activity, dynamism, encumbrance in heavy equipment, and constraint.
2 - Mama: This second piece represents warmth, rest, calm, femininity, freedom, and nudity. From the Arctic, we transition to a suffocating landscape, with the same mountains. This linocut was created from a personal vacation photograph, representing the artist's deceased mother.
The effectiveness of the confrontation between the two worlds, the finesse of the linocuts, and the precision of the gradients make these artworks evoke the climate issues and foresee our grim fate if the inaction of leaders continues.
