By embracing plainness, simplicity, and intimacy, this art emerges
insights for cultivating a cross-boundary ecological ethos. The focal shape
bears a striking resemblance to the Buddhist hand gesture, known as Mudra or
Mudras (“seal” or “sign”). The
"hand-seal" depicted in the middle-bottom of this painting seeks to
explore the connection between sacred gesture and insight that is central to
Zen philosophy. It used to evoke a
particular state of mind. A palm held up
facing outward signifies the act of reassurance. It combines the gestural energy and
spontaneity of abstract expressionism with the mindfulness and clarity of Zen calligraphy.
In exploring the essence of Western modern art, I have been triggered,
under my work, an existential feeling by constantly digging out every
dream-like image in subconsciousness. My
paintings indeed devote into an artistic architecture that leads me to iterate
over various visual elements based on both Bergson’s “Fluid Experience” and
Carl Jung’s “Synchronicity”. Taking
this perspective, the dual dynamic fulfills a phenomenological approach in
art. It manifests that the intrinsic
state of mind and moving events of the extrinsic world are being simultaneously
coincided to vitalize mind-wandering imageries.
