Diana Vreeland Portrait, is an embroidered piece of Diana Dalziel from Paris. Iconic and noted columnist and editor in the field of fashion. Considered one of the most stylish personalities in the history.
This piece is done over a white silk organza. Each area is describing a real texture, the choice of the materials ints important to understand each texture. Tiny material are selected to be able to redefine each angle, the skin tones are defined by the use of different shades of the beads.
Two techniques are used: Lunevile technique done with a hook to apply all the beads and sequins and also the areas with thread (in this technique all the embroidery work is done underneath while working on the frame), and Gold Work, a traditional technique very luxury used in the past to apply gold thread to the religious and royal garments, in this case the material is in red, and is used to creat the sweater of Diana, representing her noble and hight quality life she use to have.
