“From the Window” is a recomposition that merges two iconic works of Cubism: “La fenêtre ouverte” (1929) by Juan Gris and “La reina Isabella” (1908) by Pablo Picasso. Through a free adaptation, Arriero creates a piece that reinterprets and celebrates the essence of Cubism, blending elements and styles from both masters.
The painting depicts an interior scene where a female figure is combined with still life elements and a landscape visible through an open window. The composition uses geometric shapes and fragmented planes, characteristic of analytical Cubism, to decompose and reorganize the visual elements.
The vibrant colors and rich textures of oil and acrylic blend over a digital print on canvas, creating unique depth and dynamism. The influence of Juan Gris is evident in the structure and use of the window as a central element, while the figure of the woman recalls Picasso’s queen Isabella, endowed with serenity and an enigmatic presence.
