The painting entered is an emotional response from the environmentalist artist Grant Muir. New Zealand' Awa (rivers) have been badly polluted from intensive agriculture (mostly dairy farming). The oil & pencil on canvas paintings are unique in painting style, described as ''new Impressionism '' Synthesising the emotional response felt by the artist, the smell of decay and nutrients, the landscape recognisable in form, but grotesque in colour and character.
