The
Pandemia caused by the virus SARSCOV2 has been devastating and countries all
over the world have been hit. Many people died of COVID19 and its
complications. Fear is even growing among population and politicians. It
appears like an enemy, strong and tall like Goliath, who has been feared by
many. However, David, fearing God but not Goliath, approached Goliath and
killed him. Nobody expected him to complete this mission.
Michelangelo
has created a fantastic sculpture, which is worldwide recognized. Inspired by
this wonderful artwork, I decided to create a pastel painting based on
Michelangelo`s statue of David. In the past David approached Goliath, at
present he is facing Covid. Only using face masks, he will successfully
overcome this challenge.
Concerning
techniques, I first created an underpainting. During the next step I used hard
pastels for proper shape and appearance. During the main part, I applied soft
pastels. By doing multiple layering brilliance of colours can be achieved. Finally,
I prefer to frame my work to better protect it because of the powdery
composition of pastel.
