Christopher is my favorite human in the world. In this simple portrait I wanted to represent his strength in the fight against his emotions. We don't really know if he is doing well, or if he is doing badly. Is he grimacing because he is having fun with his cat or is he starting a long agony? I tell you: he is dying, and his eyes are rolling back. He is terribly lonely, despite his cat who does not understand the situation. He is dying, and he too has the right to his post mortem trees. I painted this canvas for him. To help him open his eyes to his denial of his brother's death. Today he is an angry man, and tomorrow he will be a man of acceptance.
He is the strongest man I know. He carries all the pain of his family on his shoulders. He remains calm, upright and quiet, despite his barely perceptible suffering.
I painted him a lot. I wanted to immortalize him while he was alive and not wait until he was dead to do so.
The halo around his head is because he is a perfect man. And even more. The halo is my love for him.
