This artwork is inspired by a classic Chinese New Year painting, featuring a plump doll with two braids, each representing a gender: the braided hair group signifies a boy, while the individual braids denote a girl. The doll cradles a carp, a symbol of propitious and tenacity, as it is poised to leap through the Dragon Gate. This act symbolizes the pursuit of dreams and overcoming challenges to achieve one's aspirations through persistent effort. The carp itself is a traditional emblem of good fortune.
In the composition, the doll's right hand holds a glass aloft, a gesture that conveys celebration, encouragement, and well-wishes. The dragon, a mythical creature of prosperity and auspiciousness in Chinese culture, is depicted alongside the lotus patterns, which represent harmony and elegance. Additionally, the presence of five bats in the artwork embodies the "Five Blessings": longevity, wealth, health, virtue, and a good ending.
By weaving these rich and meaningful symbols into my creation, I aspire to convey a deep yearning for a life filled with happiness and peace, as well as a hopeful outlook towards a future brimming with prosperity and well-being.
