This painting comes from a series of works based of the concept of food in cinema, the possibilities of food and the way food and sexual desire are intertwined. Often in film food acts a third party - the viewer, the actor, and the food item. I look at ways food is used in language and without language to portray or evoke an array of emotions. This painting comes from a scene in Once Upon a Time in America (by Sergio Leone 1984), the scene shows the naivety and torment of a boy who bought a cake to trade for sexual favour, but couldn't resist the temptation of eating it.
