Based on the conception and idea of Pablo Picasso's "Guernica", I depict the horrors and terrors of war that took place in the Ukrainian village called "Butcha". In contrast to Picasso's work, I relied on more yellowish colours for the lights, reflecting the colours of the Ukrainian national flag. Especially, the image that went through all media channels showing a man getting shot dead while riding his bike got stuck in my head and is a personification of the cruelty of the Russian army. Just imagine: You are riding your bicycle to the grocery store in order to supply your family with food when all of the sudden you are being shot dead. Words can't even explain the horrific feeling I get when thinking about such a scenario that I had to paint it, not only to display the terror of war, but to emphasise the emotional burden that the Ukrainian people have to carry. We all receive information about the war through the media. This is an attempt to shine light on the emotional part of the war.
