waste carboard on wood. Acrylic and enamels
This work tries to capture my personal vision of the spirit of the people of Brasil. A country of mixed race and chaos, unequal in the distribution of its riches, proud and at the same time humble, golden sun, Amazonic Green and Atlantic blue, with huge problems, advanced and also third world, irrational but perhaps not…where its people look forward and dance both in the good and in the bad times and that is its engine. People who swing from violence to joy and who live the here and the now.
¿How to come close to that spirit with color and form? Over used packaging cardboard (that could well have been made from Amazonic trees) I used the contrast between opaque and shiny cells for all those muddy as well as shiny aspects of this land. And in the same way I think many people in this magical land do, I mixed opposite colors that go together and with luck, also dance together.
