A few years ago, 29 lifeless sperm whales were thrown onto the coast of an island near the North Sea in Germany! What was inside the stomachs of these marine life shocked marine biologists.
Most of the whales had stomachs full of plastic debris, including a 13-meter fishing net, a 70-cm piece of plastic from the car, and other pieces of plastic debris.
The 15-ton sperm whale had to eat about 450 kg of food to support itself, but there was no evidence in the stomach that they had recently eaten anything other than plastic. The whales ate nothing but plastic in the days before they died.
This is the result of humankind's shocking disregard for marine life, and an overabundance of plastics in the oceans.
