This large oil painting titled "Black Gutter" is made for
recalling the hard circumstances in that early Taiwanese took risks to immigrate from mainland China to Formosa. The so called "black gutter" was the nickname of 'Taiwan Strait" for being dangerous and unpredictable for the immigrants to cross over. Everyone in the painting has a common destiny. And I think, also, human has a common destiny to fight for their own dreams. So ,the people in the painting can be seen as each of us. God bless Ukraine.
Combining the minimalism and realistic narrative techniques, the author strengthens the constancy of human beings, and turns their environment into a variable black space, a designed field for exercising human will.
