In this picture you can see a young woman. She is turned towards the viewer and smiles out of an inner joy. She has eye-catching make-up and a fashionable, dark, short haircut from the 1920s and 1930s. The imposing fut / fascinator, which is adorned with a pastel-colored bouquet of flowers, is also striking.
The series "Back To The Sweet Herbs" makes direct reference to the diptych "Sweet Herbs" made in 2017. In 2017 the concept of painting in series did not yet exist - after completing a work there was a new theme, a new color palette. The connection between individual works could not always be clearly established. With diptychs, the targeted juxtaposition of two works, I tried to break up my existing way of working. Now I am reliving the series, which never was one, and present the return to the "Sweet Herbs" in fresh green pastel tones. A reawakening that slumbered for four years.
