This "Art"-chive completed in January 2021 features 200+ global events of the year 2020. By employing a careless doodle style, gamified humour and comic-esque design, I contrast the morbidity of the year 2020 with a fun and vibrant allure. It is only until critical investigation that the viewer, drawn in by the faux-jovial disposition of this piece, discovers the reality riddled with death, natural disasters and political unrest to name a few. This highly interactive piece is a conversation starter.
In our real experiences, just as I have captured in this work of art, the memories of 2020 have been buried with humour and noise. This piece resists our feigned amnesia by bringing to permanence these events. "An Art-chive of the year 2020" is my standing masterpiece, a contribution to historical accounts of the year. This work is a first from a collection of 10 which will document a decade post-covid: 2020-2030.
