Tailing pond of deep coal mine Darkov, Czech republic. Work from series "Anthropocene"
Mixed media : Asphalt, coal, reed, oil and metalic pigment on canvas.
In the cycle "Anthropocene" I deal with
the relationship between man and the landscape. I deal with the ability, that
human society has acquired over the last few centuries, the ability to
transform the landscape to human needs on a vast scale, often regardless of the
possible consequences of that transformation. This transformation of the landscape
then changes not only its external appearance, but ultimately also the
functioning of the landscape within the vast territories and on the entire
planet Earth. If it's good or bad, I leave it for the viewer to decide for now.
The picture shows
the landscape of the mine waters from the coal mine Darkov in Moravian Silesia.
The picture contains partially the materials from this area as the coal and
reed. Brown colours are painted by synthetic asphalt,
which originates as one of the products of coal processing. The misty
atmosphere of this place is created with the support of metallic pigment.
